Chamber Update - 23rd December 2021

Dear Members

As we move into the final countdown for Christmas, I have been made aware of a few incidents where business owners and their staff have been abused and treated aggressively by the public when asked for proof of vaccination on Check-in.
Our local economy relies on you, the local businesses who have been through drought, fires, flooding, and a pandemic, and we understand how hard the last few years have been on you all.  We are reminding the public to please be kind and direct their frustrations with the mandates to the Government and not local businesses. There are a lot of emotions running high and accusations of discrimination and negative social media posts. None of which achieves anything but disharmony in our community.  Please be kind to each other, whatever stance or decision you make about your business is your own to make and after everything this town has been through we all need to support each other.
If you have any issues or concerns, please reach out to us.  For details of the requirements that have been placed on businesses please visit - https://www.health.qld.gov.au/.../public-health-and...
On behalf of the Chamber Executive, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Graham Parker
